Light weight: The helmet is made in 2 sizes so if you have a freakishly large or small head then this helmet may not be the brain bucket for you. Remember kids safety never takes a holiday and outside of the helmet passing the safety test fit is the most important thing. If the helmet does not fit your head properly the likeliness of you having a head injuries in an accident goes way up. The SM tips the gram scale at 220 grams and the M/L at a few grams more at 250! These are very respectful weights considering that the helmet not only contains a top shell but the shell extends all the way down and wraps underneath.

17 colors to choose from: Its really really really rare for a company to offer a model of helmet in 17 different colors! What that means is that KASK has taken the reason of wrong color as a reason not to buy the helmet. And made it a reason to buy the helmet. I think that the standard color spread for helmet colors for any given model is 1-5. I'm saying 5 because companies will usually offer a couple of different white or black options. But usually its a white, black and then a blue or red or maybe both that is offered. This means you can match form head to toe providing you get your shoes to match.

Great occipital strap! Remember when I said that fit is very very important. Well you don't want the helmet to move around when you crash and KASK has a very unusual feature in that the sizing adjuster on the back to snug the helmet into place has a articulating elbow that allows the back of the adjuster to get into that sweet spot when your skull turns back into your neck. This is called your occipital bone of your skull. Bottom line the helmet will not move and the fit is really really good.

Best chin strap that we have ever felt! I am finding out that Italian helmets are also made like Italian shoes. That means that they are made with attention to details and use really really good materials in their construction. So the standard chin strap protector is usually a piece of fabric that has some Velcro on it. So much so that I don't usually even notice them. KASK uses this super soft synthetic leather stuff that feels like real leather and give a sense of luxury to the helmet.

We Didn't Like

The only problem that we encounter with the helmet is that the retention system sometimes interfered with our sunglasses. So either the placement or the location of the retention system needs to be adjusted.

The Final Say

When you are choosing a helmet for you or a loved one you need to choose wisely. Helmet Technology has come a long way since the Bell V1 Pro from 35 year ago. The weights have dropped and the aero dynamics have been really cleaned up. To take a ride down memory lane just click here for a little history on the bike helmet. Most if not all of the helmet companies are using cutting edge technology to make helmets. With laws and strict testing standards in place in the good old USA it is safe to assume that all of the helmets meet a certain safety level. So for us what it comes down to are a few things. Fit, Features and Style. The fit for us was really really good and with all of the different color option with this one modelyou will be able to find a color to match your team kits. Finally this helmet hits home with all of the little details that they have put into the strap. If I didn't know better I would say that its made out of real kidskin leather. But the helmet comes at a price and at $200.00 its not cheap, But it falls right in the middle of all of the other high performance helmets on the market and with all of the variations you can get in color and the high quality strap this helmet is a real winner.
